Sapang Dalaga councilor’s house raided; 3 handguns, 1 granade found

SAPANGDALAGA,MisOc--Around 2:00 o’clock dawn of February 17, Wednesday, operatives of Intelligence Section of Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Command, Regional Mobile Group and Sapang Dalaga Police Station are already moving to serve a search warrant to a house own by a Municipal Councilor located in Purok 3, Brgy Caluya.
Acting judge Bernadette Encinareal of Regional Trial Court Branch 36 in Calamba issued the warrant against the house of Joel “Tiwi” Garcia Daque on the ground that there is “good and sufficient reason to believe” that the subject is possessing firearms without license.

Around 6:00 o’clock witnessed by two barangay officials started the search.
Searching officers first discovered a Smith & Wesson super .38 caliber with ammunitions inside the store.

A grenade was also found in the clothes cabinet of the suspect.
Two other firearms, 9 mm pistol and .38 caliber were found hidden at the back of the fireplace (abuhan).

Provincial Police Director Senior Superintendent Robert Quenery said they applied for search warrants after validating several reports and complaints from residents of Sapang Dalaga.

“Yung bahay niya parang ginagamit na lalagyan ng mga armas,” Quenery said.
“Based on that information we developed the case and applied for a search warant,” he added.

“Tiwi” is also identified as brother of Francisco “Dondon” Daque, an alleged hired killer believed to be responsible in the Naburos incident were group of arm men harassed and threatened local setllers.

“We are still looking on his partcipation but initially kasi ang kanyang kapatid we believe is been involved in the Naburos incident. According to our informants yung bahay niya ang nilalagyan ng mga baril but we are still looking unto it and investigation is still on going,” he explained.

According to SSupt Quenery the successful operation showed that the Philippine National Police is serious in their campaigns against arm groups especially during this election period.

PNP had already filed cases of illegal possessin of firearms, explosives and violation of COMELEC Election Omnibus Code.
