OROQUIETA CITY--The chapel of the St. Therese of the child Jesus in Philippine National Police (PNP) Camp Naranjo, Oroquieta City celebrates its first feast after it was consecrated by Military Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak last August 11.
In an interview, Fr. Marlou Labares, PNP provincial chaplain said parishioners are in high spirits for celebrating the first feast of the chapel.
He said that in celebrating the feast is a sign of unity among PNP personnel that happens to be his parishioners.
In the said celebration, Fr, Labares officiated the mass attended by PNP personnel, officials, visitors and the media.
In his Homily, the provincial chaplain emphasized the life of St. Therese of the child Jesus as a simple woman who lives a simple life and she wanted that the people will live also a simple existence.
Saying that in following the footsteps of Christ is simple; Fr. Labares added that simplicity of life centers what God wanted us to do.
The provincial chaplain uttered that St. Therese was also proclaimed as patroness of all the missions but live only in the monastery. This means as worshippers there’s no need to go to other places to be called as missionary.
“We can be a missionary in our own little way and in our own capacity as a Christian,” Labares said.
He then called the men and women in uniform to study the life of St. Therese and emulate in her example which include spreading the devotion of the patron saint.
He concluded that people need to focus their lives to God since all of us are “missionaries”.
