TANGUB CITY: The provincial government of Misamis Occidental through the local government unit (LGU) of Tangub held a Regional Convention of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) last November 10-11, 2009 at Highland Stone Chapel, Hoyohoy, Tangub City.
The activity was participated in by the regional delegates from region 10 such as Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon, Valencia City, Gingoog City and the province of Misamis Occidental.
Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) formerly the Pag-Asa Youth Movement (PYM) is an organization for Out-of-School Youth under the Unlad Kabataan Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
PYAP aims to strengthen the Out-of-School youth's psycho-social competencies through the provision of preventive and developmental activities and projects.
Organizers are looking forward to give this sector the avenue to excel and show their potentials.
The activity was a venue for the youth with special needs to encourage, facilitate and create opportunities for self-expression and attainment of proper attitudes and behavior among the youth for self-fulfillment and social awareness.
Among the activities that highlighted the event were the cultural presentation of every delegates, fellowship, friendship games, and formulation of the national PYAP plan of action, group forum, and skills demonstration.
In addition, there were also a sharing of learning, insights, reflections, discussion on alternative politics and orientation on responsible parenting. (Tangub i-net)
